California Violence Experiences Survey (CalVEX)I am the principal investigator of the California Violence Experiences (CalVEX) project, which is funded by the Blue Shield of California Foundation and is conducted in partnership with Anita Raj at Tulane University's Newcomb Institute.
To date, our research has assessed the prevalence of intimate partner violence (IPV) across California, the cost of IPV to the state, the relationship between violence and firearm attitudes and practices, the violent experiences of Asian Californians, and how domestic violence affects immigrant and refugee Californians. We partner with key experts and stakeholders from the fields of safety, health and wellness across the state of California and the nation to track and understand Californians' experiences with violence. We use research and surveillance to guide prevention programming for the state. See the full 2023 CalVEX report here. |
